In the world in which the children live, they are surrounded by technological products and developments. The design and technology curriculum is designed to teach them to use skills and knowledge which will enable them to appreciate and control this world. They will learn skills like cutting and joining and how to combine these skills in a simple way with knowledge gained from other curriculum areas to plan, design and make simple products.

We aim to develop their skills in planning, drawing and modelling their planned designs and also to look critically at their work to suggest improvements.

The subject calls for pupils to become independent and creative problem solvers. They must look for needs, wants and opportunities and respond to them by developing a range of ideas. They combine practical skills with an understanding of tools and materials.
